Kwansei Gakuin University Activities
Kwansei Gakuin Business School is going to implement the following activities on this joint project.
Our business school runs the International Management Course (IMC) to qualify students for an MBA in English as well as the Corporate Strategic Management Course. Since all IMC classes are conducted in English, two kinds of students attend the course: native Japanese-speaking students and international students whose first or main language is English.
By offering the IMC students classes on management issues of Japanese companies using English teaching materials, we will develop world-class educational materials, faculty skills, and methodologies for teaching Japanese management. During the Program, we will review the results of our development activities by comparison with overseas business schools. In addition, we are planning to receive evaluations of student-learning results from enterprises through internships and surveys.
The Objectives of the Project:
1. We will examine the differences in levels of understanding depending on language by implementing trial classes for IMC students to compare the classes taught in English with the classes taught in Japanese. This comparison will enable us to comprehend and review Japanese students in the IMC, and to find out whether or not they sufficiently understand the classes in English, or if they have different results when learning the same course in Japanese.
2. We will visit overseas business schools for research and develop world-class teaching materials written in English. These efforts will allow us to enhance faculty skills and provide students with class contents meeting global standards. We ultimately aim to have our English teaching materials developed during this Program used in overseas business schools.
3. We will develop educational programs based on case studies of Japanese companies that are collected through internships and surveys. Therefore, the educational programs that meet Japanese companies’ needs will provide human resources with practical skills for companies, and will expand job opportunities for students. We are also planning to have our teaching materials and demonstration classes evaluated by the hosting companies of the internships.
4. We will summarize and report these joint activities so that we can share the achievements as a reference of faculty development with domestic/overseas business schools as well as allied universities and companies. Also, we will release the case studies developed in this project.
