Hideaki Izumi Specially Appointed Professor "Program for a Strategic University Alliance" Institute of Business and Accounting Kwansei Gakuin University |
1. | We implemented trial classes for IMC students to compare the classes using English teaching materials with the classes using Japanese materials to examine the differences in levels of understanding depending on language. The comparison allowed us to review if Japanese IMC students could improve not only their English language ability, but also understand the English language classes sufficiently for good comprehension, and we also observed if there were any difference in learning outcomes if they studied the course in Japanese. We will improve our educational method by analyzing comprehension. |
2. | We visited to and invited professors from distinguished overseas business schools to research world-class teaching materials, teaching methods, and teaching contents. It helped us to enhance our faculty ability to offer students a curriculum that addresses globalization. We will improve English teaching materials developed in this project, which we are working toward to be utilized in overseas business schools, especially in Asia. |
3. | We offered seminars regarding various topics such as Japanese companies, management theory, business strategy, and manufacturing in global companies, with effective use of educational resource sharing among the three allied universities. This allowed us to implement educational programs in demand by companies. We will develop our curriculum further while gathering evaluations by hosting companies that offer internships from the point of view of management problems. |
4. | We realized strategic alliances with some Asian business schools. These alliances will allow us to offer a human resource development program for the management of Japanese companies who will advance into Asia and want to foster Japanese and local staff. We will conduct hearings to gather more information about Japanese companies’ needs and discuss more concrete teaching methods with Asian business schools. |
